This tool allows manufacturers to define all the logic and constraints around how products can be built—from simple variants to highly engineered-to-order assemblies. The product modeling environment uses a rules-based engine to define allowable options, valid combinations, dependencies, and constraints. This ensures that only buildable and orderable configurations are created during the quoting and order process. By centralizing product logic in the CPQ Enterprise Configurator, companies reduce errors, eliminate manual validations, and streamline how sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams collaborate on custom products. ## Expert's Take on Product Modeling And Rulesets **Nick Mendolia** explains that one of the biggest values of CSI’s configurator is the ability to manage complex rules and logic in a centralized, scalable way. > "You can capture everything from 'if this, then that' logic, to dependencies between selections, to constraints based on engineering rules.
