Tracking job quality

This article is part of our CloudSuite Industrial Feature Focus series.

Each post highlights a specific feature within Infor CloudSuite Industrial (CSI). In this one, we’re covering Tracking Job Quality, a function within the Quality module that gives manufacturers detailed visibility into inspection points across production operations.

Here’s what we’re focusing on today:

  • Feature: Tracking Job Quality
  • Module: Quality Management
  • Product: Infor CloudSuite Industrial ERP

Tracking Job Quality: Overview

CSI’s Quality Control module allows manufacturers to create and enforce in-process quality checks at every stage of a production job. These are defined through control plans that can be linked to specific operations on a job route. Each control plan contains a set of checkpoints or inspection steps—tailored to the operation and item being produced.

Because inspections are embedded directly in the job workflow, CSI supports real-time quality assurance without needing to insert separate “inspection operations.” Operators or inspectors can log results at the appropriate operation step, helping ensure traceability and compliance across all work-in-process (WIP).

This approach supports continuous improvement by capturing quality data at the source and tying it directly to specific employees, machines, and work centers. You can define sample sizes, inspection criteria, and corrective steps within each plan. All quality history stays connected to the job record.

Expert’s Take on Tracking Job Quality

Nick Mendolia, Director of Client Solutions at Visual South, explains how job quality is tracked within CSI and how it compares to what many manufacturers do before implementing ERP:

“Instead of creating a separate inspection operation, you can attach a control plan directly to an existing operation in the route. That’s much more efficient.”

Nick emphasizes that each operation can have its own control plan. “So if a job has ten operations, you can assign ten different inspections, each with different checkpoints if needed,” he says.

He points out that without CSI, most companies track this kind of inspection data in Excel or a third-party tool. “That means there’s no link to the actual job routing or operation. CSI keeps it all integrated, which is what makes it powerful.”
