This article is part of our CloudSuite Industrial Feature Focus series.
Each post highlights a specific feature within Infor CloudSuite Industrial (CSI). In this one, we’re diving into Configured Ordering via Portal.
You’ll get a clear explanation of how it works and expert insight from Visual South’s Nick Mendolia. Nick has implemented ERP for real manufacturers and knows what the documentation doesn’t tell you.
Here’s what we’re focusing on today:
Infor CloudSuite Industrial (CSI) gives customers and resellers the ability to configure complex products directly through the Customer or Reseller Portal using CPQ (Configure Price Quote). This feature connects the configurator to the portal interface, providing a self-service experience that is both guided and precise.
When users select a configurable item and move to checkout, the CPQ engine is triggered. They are prompted to select options, apply rules, and instantly see pricing updates. The entire process mirrors what an internal sales rep would do inside the system—only now it’s available to external users.
It’s ideal for scenarios where customization is core to your product line. By extending this capability to portals, manufacturers empower their buyers to take control of the ordering process while ensuring accuracy and ERP alignment.
According to Nick Mendolia:
"That’s really a combination of the customer and reseller portals along with CPQ. When someone selects a configurable item, it opens up the configurator to ask for all the options—just like it would internally."
He likens it to a boat dealer sitting with a customer, walking through each configuration choice in real time and getting immediate pricing. This level of self-service shortens sales cycles and increases engagement.
