Dynamic pricing in quotes

This article is part of our CloudSuite Industrial Feature Focus series.

Each post highlights a specific feature within Infor CloudSuite Industrial (CSI). In this one, we’re diving into Dynamic Pricing In Quotes.

You’ll get a clear explanation of how it works and expert insight from Visual South’s Nick Mendolia. Nick has implemented ERP for real manufacturers and knows what the documentation doesn’t tell you.

Here’s what we’re focusing on today:

  • Feature: Dynamic Pricing In Quotes
  • Module: CPQ Enterprise Quoting (EQ)
  • Product: Infor CloudSuite Industrial (CSI)

Dynamic Pricing In Quotes Overview

Infor CloudSuite Industrial enables dynamic pricing directly within the quoting process using its CPQ and EQ modules. When a user generates a quote, the system pulls pricing data from either the ERP or a dedicated EQ price list—depending on how the quoting environment is configured.

This setup provides flexibility. You can keep the ERP as your system of record for pricing, or allow Enterprise Quoting to manage a separate price list. Either way, quotes are generated with real-time accuracy based on the configured product, customer type, volume, or custom rules.

The integration ensures that pricing is always aligned with your business logic. There’s no need for manual calculations or external pricing tools. Every quote reflects your latest pricing strategy, right at the point of quote creation.

Expert's Take on Dynamic Pricing In Quotes

Nick Mendolia explains that pricing flexibility is built into the CPQ-EQ framework:

"EQ has a price list for all of your items, whether you want that price list to come from ERP directly or have your own price list within EQ... anything that you're quoting is getting it from whichever source you prefer."

He adds that most manufacturers will want the ERP to remain their system of record for pricing—ensuring consistency across all transactions. But EQ allows for exceptions when needed.

"In most cases it's going to come from ERP because you want that to be your system of record for pricing."
