Quote-To-Order Conversion Overview
In Infor CloudSuite Industrial (CSI), quote-to-order conversion allows manufacturers to turn approved quotes into sales orders with minimal effort. Whether a quote is created internally or through a reseller, the system provides flexible paths for progressing a quote into the ERP's order processing workflows.
Quotes may include both configured products and catalog items, and they can be handled outside the ERP system until approved. Once accepted, quotes can be converted directly into orders, or passed through an estimation step depending on the business process. This provides flexibility for sales, while maintaining control over how quotes move into production.
The result is a more efficient quoting process that reduces manual reentry, maintains configuration integrity, and supports various quoting strategies for internal teams and external dealers alike.
Expert's Take on Quote-To-Order Conversion
Nick Mendolia explains that the CPQ Enterprise Quoting (EQ) module is designed to give both internal sales teams and resellers the ability to generate accurate, flexible quotes—even outside of ERP. This lets companies quote products without immediately involving the ERP system.
"You can do a full quotation with multiple items... It doesn't have to be just a configurator item."
Nick emphasizes that EQ can handle both configured and standard parts from the catalog. Once the quote is finalized and approved, there are multiple options for how it moves into CSI:
- Convert it directly into an order in ERP
- Create an estimate first, then convert that into an order once accepted
This flexibility supports different quoting strategies and makes EQ a great fit for companies with resellers or distributed sales teams.
