Labor and Expense Management Overview
CloudSuite Industrial’s Service module gives service teams the tools to track time, expenses, and costs accurately, whether in the field or in-house. Technicians (employees or subcontractors) can report labor hours, travel costs, and other T&E expenses directly into CSI. All of these entries roll up to the related service order, giving real-time visibility into profitability and billing.
CSI also includes a mobile app for field technicians, making it easy to capture labor and expenses from anywhere. Entries feed directly into the ERP’s financials, eliminating the need for separate spreadsheets or time-tracking apps. It supports both actual cost collection and cost estimation during quoting or planning stages.
Expert’s Take: Nick Mendolia on Labor and Expense Tracking
Nick Mendolia, Director of Client Solutions at Visual South, explains how CSI makes it easy to track labor and expenses for field service teams:
“If you have field service technicians, whether they’re employees or contractors, you can capture both their labor and expenses along with miscellaneous costs like travel and T&E.”
Nick highlights that CSI includes a mobile app for capturing those entries from the field. “All of those expenses get passed directly into the ERP and the financials. That’s what calculates the cost of the service order,” he says.
This applies to both actual costs and estimates. “If they’re doing an estimate, they can include what they think those expenses are going to be,” Nick adds.
When showing this feature, one question comes up over and over again: Can CSI handle typical travel costs? “Yes,” he confirms. “It captures hotel, travel, entertainment, or anything like that.”
