Application Extensibility In Infor CloudSuite Industrial

Application Event System

This article is part of our CloudSuite Industrial Feature Focus series.

Each post highlights a specific feature within Infor CloudSuite Industrial (CSI). In this one, we’re exploring Application Extensibility, the ability to personalize and expand CSI using the built-in Mongoose framework.

Here’s what we’re focusing on today:

  • Feature: Application Extensibility
  • Framework: Mongoose
  • Product: Infor CloudSuite Industrial ERP

Application Extensibility Overview

Application extensibility in CSI allows users to adapt the ERP to their needs, without modifying source code or violating cloud upgradeability standards. Using the Mongoose framework, manufacturers can personalize screens, add fields, hide information by role, or layer in new logic—all without compromising the base application.

In a cloud deployment, Infor enforces two rules: all changes must be done using Mongoose tools, and there is no direct access to the server or database. Instead, you extend the application using stored procedure callouts (EXTGEN), application events, new tables, and IDO layers.

These changes are stored in a separate customer-specific layer, meaning they persist through upgrades and don’t impact vendor-delivered code. This ensures compliance, supportability, and scalability even in multi-tenant cloud environments.

Expert’s Take on Application Extensibility

Nick Mendolia, Director of Client Solutions at Visual South, explains the power of CSI’s extensibility tools from a real-world implementation perspective:

“With CloudSuite Industrial, you get the Mongoose framework, what all the screens are built on. That means you can modify or extend any screen in the ERP without writing code.”

Nick notes that changes like adding or hiding fields, renaming labels, or adjusting layouts are all done in the same environment CSI itself is built in. “You’re not bolting on a third-party tool. You’re modifying the actual ERP form, and those changes stay intact during upgrades,” he says.

He also stresses that this allows for system-wide consistency. “When you extend something like the Item form, that new field follows the item through the rest of the system automatically. You don’t have to build custom logic to carry it forward.”
